Rata Hub caters for our younger children in the school. Presently we have 3 learning spaces: Rata 4, the New Entrant class taught by Mrs Evans, Rata 3, a Year 1 & 2 class taught by Miss Norton, Rata 2, a Year 2 class taught by Miss Lagan and, Rata 1 a New Entrant class which will open mid year with Mrs Drake.
Rata has a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy and the key competencies .Our learners also experience the performing and visual arts, PMP, a physical education programme that develops fine and gross locomotive skills, Discovery Time, where students direct their own learning through shared interests. The learners are also able to develop communication skills in te reo and sign language.
Whanau have access to their children’s learning experiences through Seesaw, an online portfolio of children’s work and communication from the teacher. Whanau can also explore classroom blogs. To visit the blogs , these can be accessed using the following links:

Te Hiringa (Yrs 1-8)
Tēnā koutou! Te Hiringa is a bilingual class with tamariki aged Year 0 - 8. We learn in both te reo Māori and English. Our day starts each day with karakia, followed by mihi time and waiata. We use the Tuakana/Teina concept regularly in our class programmes. Over the last couple of years we have been planting and cultivating kumara in our school garden and our first crop was a big success, we are continuing this journey again this year. Once a week we do kapahaka and have other students within the school come to our class to join us for this. We also join the other hubs for activities throughout the year.
